I don’t usually go in for conspiracy theories either Dom. But we don’t need to. It seems clear to me that the genius of Critical Theory, or ‘Woke’ or whatever you want to call it is to create a self replicating algorithm, a machine, which needs very little direction or guidance from the True Believers to nonetheless infect and infest all our lives.
Once you imbed the CT principles into society by giving people like Skyla the legal, not just ‘social’ right to express themselves as they choose, the rest takes care of itself.
I too used to be very relaxed about people like Skyla identifying how they choose. But the trick is that this isn’t really about giving them the right to choose their identity. It is fundamentally and intentionally about removing our right to question it.
Seems to me the job has essentially fragmented. SMT chant the mantra of diversity. Inclusion and equity. All very good. And police must rebuild trust. Okay.
So who decides on DEI policies etc? The converted. Thus dissent or idea that this needs to be handled carefully is lost. The New Black is once forever and always the New Black. All Hail the New Black. Open opposition has been stigmatised sidelined and silenced. The New Black like The Party is Right and cannot be wrong. The Borg meet Stalin. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
Trouble is old son. People now have votes. For what they're worth. And SM echo chambers where they find their tribe and whisper heresy.
Hence Musk and Farage and Trump and Orban. What did they expect? Collective submission and subjugation?
They don't learn. Boris. Brevity. Trump. They don't learn. Be easier to teach a cat to bark or a dog to miaow.
Do I care? Not much tbh. Each collective is as stupid and dangerous as any other. I'm off for a burger.
In the late 1970’s and early 80’s the UK had a number of chief constables who were fiercely independent in their views and leadership style. Take James Anderton (GMP - Gods cop) and the more liberal John Alderson (D&C Community Policing). Both are now sadly dead, as is any notion of leadership in todays policing post Windsor and May……
Bless the good people of Surrey then. Which was where MPS Commissioner Mark Rowley was 2009-2011 as Surrey Police's Chief Constable.
One of the snags (under-statement) for policing in England is the lack of diversity amongst those who glide or struggle to the top. I do not mean heritage or race, but opinion. Even character as one colleague discovered on his Senior Command Course @ Bramshill, when faced with a withering editorial on police leadership in 'The Times' could not get anyone to sign a reply. "they are all Home Office selected clones".

Great piece as ever. Many thanks.
You are a bit of a closet intellectual, Dom, aren't you? Impressive argument, and just like a medium-rare steak I'm Paris, á point!
I would never classify myself as an intellectual. I just like to know what the other side's thinking.

If I live to be 120 I’ll never forget the sight of James Anderton trying to dance to Frankie Goes To Hollywood at my second cousin’s barmitvah …
You win the internet today. Comments might as well close.

Keep going Dom!
