As a friend of Dom's and having been on the same jobs ( although unknowingly at the time) I'd just like to point out that NO SFO would ever "knowingly" be seen dead on a crosstrainer!!! Heavy metal all the way!!!

I don't even know what a cross-trainer is love, I just picked an exercise-y word at random x

Agreed! Hugh Grant was brilliant in "The Gentlemen" Remind me to tell you about a stupid surveillance job I did once which ended up with me and another officer sat opposite the subject's address, looking like something out of the Bill

That piece is one of the truest, funniest, I’ve read. You know it’s going to be good opening with Regan and Carter. Shared with mates ex job. Got to agree about Guy Ritchie’s films, absolutely love them. Hugh Grant was an inspired, against type cast, casting. Just wish I knew where the limitless magazines on the AKs came from! 👌👌👏🏻👏🏻

Haha, we don’t watch many cop progs in my house. My major bugbear is not cop shows per se, but the apparent inability to have a character in a non cop program, who is a cop but isn’t there to be the bent cop character. Soaps appear worst, any cop character is generally a nasty piece of work, rather than the generally decent people I have the experience of working with. (We don’t watch soap operas either any more. )

You know, I hadn't thought of that one and it's absolutely true. Why can't someone's neighbour be a policeman who just goes to work, plays football on a Wednesday night and be a regular person? Lazy writing, that's why.

It’s the constant drip drip negative reinforcement of Police in the MSM. Whether news, soaps or most cop shows.

Another gem from a man who’s been there, seen it and done it. Nice one Dom

Enjoy the writing! Only recently introduced to Dom’s work, it makes a pleasant change to not be furious having read it! But what about ‘The Sweeney’ ? Top programne for sure!

I have to disagree about a DS never being called ‘Sarge’.

As an ex DS I was known as Mick by fellow detectives. It was always insisted that the Lids addressed me as ‘Sarge’

I left uniform in 96 and never went back so I don't remember! I don't recall it ever being a big deal with detectives.
